Particle Flow Calorimetry at the ILC
One of the most important requirements for a detector at the ILC is good jet
energy resolution. It is widely believed that the particle flow approach to
calorimetry is the key to achieving the goal of 0.3/sqrt(E[GeV]). This paper
describes the current performance of the PandoraPFA particle flow algorithm.
For 45 GeV jets in the Tesla TDR detector concept, the ILC jet energy
resolution goal is reached. At higher energies the jet energy resolution
becomes worse and can be described by the empirical expression: sigma_E/E ~
0.265/sqrt(E[GeV]) + 1.2x10^{-4}E[GeV].Comment: 5 pages, 2 .eps figures, to appear in Proc. LCWS06, Bangalore, March

Systematic analysis of pT -distributions in p + p collisions
A systematic analysis of transverse momentum distribution of hadrons produced
in ultra-relativistic p + p collisions is presented. We investigate the
effective temperature and the entropic parameter from the non-extensive
thermodynamic theory of strong interaction. We conclude that the existence of a
limiting effective temperature and of a limiting entropic parameter is in
accordance with experimental data.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure
Log(1/x) Gluon Distribution and Structure Functions in the Loop-Loop Correlation Model
We consider the interaction of the partonic fluctuation of a scalar
``photon'' with an external color field to calculate the leading and
next-to-leading order gluon distribution of the proton following the work done
by Dosch-Hebecker-Metz-Pirner. We relate these gluon distributions to the short
and long distance behavior of the cross section of an adjoint dipole scattering
off a proton. The leading order result is a constant while the next-to-leading
order result shows a ln(1/x) enhancement at small x. To get numerical results
for the gluon distributions at the initial scale Q^2_0=1.8 GeV^2, we compute
the adjoint dipole-proton cross section in the loop-loop correlation model.
Quark distributions at the same initial scale are parametrized according to
Regge theory. We evolve quark and gluon distributions to higher Q^2 values
using the DGLAP equation and compute charm and proton structure functions in
the small-x region for different Q^2 values.Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures,revised version,references added, typos

Cronin Effect at Different Rapidities at RHIC
Calculations of the nuclear modification factor, R_dAu, for pi^0 production
in dAu collisions at s_NN^1/2 = 200 GeV are presented. The applied
pQCD-improved parton model incorporates intrinsic k_T. Nuclear multiscattering
and nuclear shadowing are considered in the Au nucleus. Theoretical results are
displayed for midrapidity and high pseudorapidity (eta), and compared to

Soft Photoproduction Physics
Several topics of interest in soft photoproduction physics are discussed.
These include jet universality issues (particle flavour composition), the
subdivision into event classes, the buildup of the total photoproduction cross

The underlying event and fragmentation
A good fit to the CDF underlying event is obtained in the multiple parton
scattering picture using HERWIG, after modifying the cluster hadronization
algorithm as suggested by our previous study and adopting a larger maximum
cluster size. The number of scatters per event is generated simply as a Poisson
distribution. If our picture is correct, the baryon yield should be enhanced in
the underlying event. This effect may be studied by measuring the
proton-to-pion ratio.Comment: 23 pages, 8 figure
Strangeness and heavy flavor at RHIC: Recent results from PHENIX
We report recent results of strangeness and heavy flavor measurements from
PHENIX.
The topics are: Elliptic flow of strangeness and heavy flavor electron
production comparing to the other hadrons, meson production, and an

Forward production of beauty baryons in pp collisions at LHC
The production of charmed and beauty baryons in proton-proton collisions at
high energies is analyzed within the modified quark-gluon string model. We
present some predictions for the experiments on the forward beauty baryon
production in pp collisions at LHC energies. This analysis allows us to find
useful information on the Regge trajectories of the heavy (b barb) mesons and
the sea beauty quark distributions in the proton.Comment: 14 pages, 12 figure
BRAHMS Overview
A brief review of BRAHMS measurements of bulk particle production in RHIC
Au+Au collisions at is presented, together with some
discussion of baryon number transport. Intermediate measurements in
different collision systems (Au+Au, d+Au and p+p) are also discussed in the
context of jet quenching and saturation of the gluon density in Au ions at RHIC
energies. This report also includes preliminary results for identified
